9 Increasing Collaboration within “The Tribe” – Burt Johns
How can we (festival attendees) “further” the concept of collaboration within the group? When we come together to camp, are we mindful of what is involved in setting things up (in the beginning) and taking things down (in the end)? What about during the festival? Are there little things that we can do that would help make things easier on the organizers? What are the things that we can do individually within our ability to help that would make a difference? What are some values that come to mind when you think about this event? Some concepts that make working together “better” include things like Generosity; Honor; Hospitality; Friendship; and Perseverance. This is a chance to exchange ideas and create a personal action plan for helping at this and future events.
10 Class Discussion: Changes To Modern Heathenry Led by Burt Johns
Heathenry has become increasingly monotheistic and patriarchal. While there were always groups like this, (Theodism, AFA, for example) they stayed to themselves. More recently, given shows like “The Vikings” and the current political climate that is racist, anti-woman, anti-LGBTQ, etc., we have been seeing an increasing focus on racism, monotheism and patriarchy within both Heathenry and Norse Paganism.
